The Catholic Committee on Scouting Archdiocese of Los Angeles (CCSALA) sponsored the 18th Annual Scout Retreat on October 2-4, 2009, at Veterans Park in Sylmar, CA.

Each of the 425 Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Venture Crew Members, parents and adult leaders received a special Retreat XVIII patch featuring the theme "Truth" and the Patron Saint Dominic.

Scouts from several troops in the Ventura County Council visited St. John's Seminary in Camarillo on January 11, 2004. Fr. Joel Hansen once again conducted a most interesting and informative tour. The Scouts joined in the seminarians' evening prayer service in the chapel to end the day

Ad Altare Dei - Day of Recollection Hike 2004

A day of recollection was held on Sunday March 7, 2004, in Wildwood Park in Thousand Oaks, California. Scouts and Scouters from 3 Troops in the Ventura County Council participated. The session began at 1:00 PM and ended at 5:00 PM, followed by attendance at Mass at nearby St. Paschal's Parish. The Scouts hiked 3 or 4 miles, ending up atop scenic Lizard Rock. Besides hiking, the day's program included group discussion sessions on two scripture readings on the theme of tolerance, two decades from the Glorious mysteries of the Rosary, and sharing by Scouts of research they did on the life of their favorite saint. And, of course, there were snacks. It was a hot day - over 90� F - and so plenty of sunscreen and water came along, too.

About 12 Scouts from several Scouting Troops in the VCC visited St. John�s Seminary in Camarillo, CA as part of their Ad Altare Dei Program. A number of scout moms & dads, scout siblings, and AAD counselors also were present. This year�s seminary tour was again kicked off by Fr. Joel Henson, with assistance from Deacon Michael Radermacher. The Scouts got to see where the seminarians live, pray, and eat.

Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting Chairs, Chaplains and members of the committees gathered at St. Dorothy's parish in Glendora, California for the meeting.

Camp Rancho Alegre, northwest of Santa Barbara. November 14, 15 & 16, 2003. Scouter Development Retreat is for adult Scouters to help them become better at serving our youth. Attending a Scouter Development Retreat is a requirement for earning the Archdiocesan Bronze Pelican Award.

The retreat is a quiet weekend of practical meditation, good fellowship, and learning in the beautiful Santa Ynez mountains at Camp Rancho Alegre, where you don't have to cook or clean up or sleep on the ground or skip any days until your next hot shower. Admit it - You Need This!

Catholic Scouter Development Retreat is for adult Scouters and Venture-aged leaders. The retreat is designed to help us become better at serving our youth. Scouter Development Retreat, November 18-20, 2005.

From throughout the Archdiocese, 16 Scouters gathered at the quite and serene Camp Rancho Alegre. It is located above Santa Barbara and across from Lake Cachuma. They came as Catholics who have been in Scouting for a few years, or were considering to become involved in Scouting again. They left with a better understanding of leadership, holiness and a commitment to Catholic Scouting.
