Training: Emblems Counselor/Facilitator
Counselors (for Ad Altare Dei) and facilitators (for Pope Pius XII) must first complete the necessary training.
Counselors, as well as other volunteers that helper that teach, must hold a valid training certificate of completion within 3 years of class start. Otherwise, they must re-certify by re-taking the necessary training (see below).
2024 Training Dates
Training is usually offered twice per year, in January and in July.
For your convenience, we will have the following sessions. All will be virtual.

Class Fee
Cost is $30.00 (for the weekend, regardless of classes taken).
Starting a Class
As we continue to navigate the health requirements post COVID-19:
- We ask that all scouts and volunteers attending activities and meetings be healthy and symptom-free of COVID-19, Flu, the common cold, or other illness). If exposure is a possibility, please wear a high-quality mask for at least 10 days and test on day 5.
- If sick, please isolate and stay home until symptom-free.
- Please contact your unit/event leaders before any scouting event for any potential updated health regulations.
Counselor/Facilitator Requirements

Proof of the following:
- Current Virtus certificate - more information on Virtus training
- LiveScan fingerprint completion though the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
- Current BSA registration. Please note that the State of California requires a separate LiveScan fingerprint completion through your home council.

Current BSA Youth Protection Training (YPT) - can be updated online at
https://my.scouting.org/
Waived for counselors outside of the state of California. - Completion certificate for AB506 Mandated Reporter Training - not applicable to counselors outside of California.

Complete and submit the following documents:
- Counselor Application. Submitted with every retraining, or every 3 years. This form requires your pastor's signature.

Notice of Intent to Teach. Submitted to your Council Chair every year that a class will be taught.
Waived for counselors outside of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. - Volunteer Application. Submitted to the CCSALA Chair every year that a class will be taught.
