Retreat Facilitator Training
We are searching for facilitators and troop guides for the annual Catholic Scout Retreat! Be prepared to have the time of your life interacting with the Scouts.Though tired by the end of the day, you will have fun!
The time commitment is one (1) training session and a full day at the Retreat on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 9:00a until 6:00p.
We ask all volunteers to register and pay for the Retreat.
Facilitators
Facilitators will be assigned a patrol of between 8-10 youth, usually both boys and girl Scouts. The Scouts are first organized by ages: elementary school, middle school and high school. We even have adult patrols. After the opening ceremony and the patrol formation, the patrols go off to discuss two readings based on our theme in the morning, as well as work on the rosary patch. Patrols participate in day activities and end the evening with Mass and Benediction. Prior to Mass each patrol will have the opportunity to create their own patrol Mass banner. Everyone will come together for Mass and Benediction services.
Troop Guides
The Retreat Troop Guides will stay with their assigned patrols throughout the day until evening Mass.
2024 Training Dates
For your convenience, we will have three facilitator training sessions this year. Attendance at any one of these will prepare you to be a Retreat Facilitator, Adult Volunteer, or Retreat Troop Guide (youth Scouts in grades 8th to high school may apply). The training sessions cover the job description of facilitators, guidelines for this year's program, scriptural readings and the retreat itself.
